WL-SIT TESOL Certificate Course Alumnus
"I enthusiastically recommend the SIT World Learning Institute TESOL course offered through Rennert International in New York to anyone who has an interest in, or a passion for teaching English as a second language. My experience was great! Every day was packed with challenging work, interesting lessons, lesson planning, and actual teaching. Not only were we teaching students from countries from around the world, but my fellow teachers in training were Uzbek, Ukrainian, Japanese, Salvadoran, Korean, American and Canadian.
"We worked in small groups and were taught how to create challenging, fun and level appropriate lesson plans that fit within tried and true frameworks. These modules provided great insight into the intricacies and potential pitfalls of teaching classrooms of multi-cultural students. The excellent instructors showed real passion for teaching and they shared their enthusiasm with us every day.
"Another crucial part of the teaching process was the peer observation practice which helped us to articulate what we saw while observing our classmates teach. By using the language of teaching and deconstructing the process, we were able to more fully understand what worked, what didn’t work and why. I learned so much by watching how other teachers approached lesson objectives, handled problems, conveyed ideas and helped students in specific areas like pronunciation and grammar.
"Honestly the course at Rennert was great and one of the best things I’ve ever done.
"Since graduating, I tutor students privately and in a classroom twice a week. I’m now planning to spend time in Morocco travelling around the country and teaching as I go. Taking this course has opened up so many new possibilities for me."
