"During a back-packing trip through India I volunteered at a few schools where I realized my passion for teaching. The schools I taught in were for the very poor and I desired to help the struggling people any way I could. I concluded that an education would be the most valuable thing I could give them. Once I returned to the United States I started to think about a way to combine my love for travel and my passion for teaching. I soon realized taking a TESOL course would do just that.

I have to admit that I had a few preconceived notions about TESOL. For some reason I had it in my head that it was not a serious career and a "slacker," job. Maybe I thought being able to travel, help people, and get paid was too good to be true. But on the first day of my TESOL course my ideas were quickly disproved as I met the amazingly talented instructors and my classmates. I have learned that not only is TESOL a serious career where people go on to pursue masters degrees, but it also has a booming job market when the world is looking at tough financial times.

Taking the course only deepened my passion for teaching, and gave me an incredible perspective as a student. I learned the progressive techniques of stimulating different types of learners and most of all making learning fun no matter the subject. I learned to give and receive criticism which only helped to create stronger teaching skills."
