What to Expect

SIT TESOL Course workload The SIT TESOL Certificate Course is no small undertaking. It is a course designed to prepare you for, and help you to develop further, a career in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

At the base, you will explore the relationship between language learning and teaching. You will plan, teach and assess lessons in the four skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), grammar and culture through experiential activities, demonstrations, discussions, lesson planning and readings. You will put your new knowledge and skills into practice through teaching sessions where you will be observed and will receive feedback from your trainers and fellow participants in the course. You will also learn to reflect on and assess your own teaching as well as that of your peers.

If you choose to attend our intensive-format course (4 weeks), you are encouraged to clear your schedule for the duration of the course. If you choose the extensive-format course (12-14 weeks), you should take into serious consideration the time and energy demands the program will put upon you, and plan your schedule accordingly.
