How much notice is needed if I wish to participate in the BE in A or V and V programs?
The program questionnaire, agreement form, and program fees must be received four weeks prior to your desired start date. Keep in mind that for BE in A, a student visa is required. Getting a visa can take several weeks once all documents are received.
What types of internships or volunteer opportunities are available?
In the past, students have been responsible for research, database management, office support, events planning, and customer support in fields such as marketing, public relations, architecture, fashion, IT, or the arts.
What are the main differences between the BE in A and Vacation and Volunteer programs?
BE in A STUDENTS:
Must have a student visa
Take classes throughout their stay
Spend 6 - 14 weeks at an internship
V and V STUDENTS:
Do not need a student visa
Spend their first four weeks in the classroom
Can stay in the U.S. a maximum of 90 days
Can I choose my sponsor company or participate in a specific field or specialty?
While we try to match a student's desired field as closely as possible to the company itself, a company or an industry is not guaranteed. All selections are subject to availability and the policies of the host sponsor. You will not know the names of prospective sponsor companies before you arrive.
Can I receive payment for my participation in the BE in A or V and V programs?
No. The stipulations of the F-1 student visa (for BE in A), as well as, the visa-waiver status (for V and V), require that the experience be non-compensated. In addition, students in the BE in A program will need to attend classes full-time as part of their visa requirements.
Can I participate in BE in A or V and V without having already completed university studies?
Yes. Students in both the BE in A and V and V programs are in the process of getting a degree or have just completed one.
What happens if I wish to leave the program before the scheduled end-date?
Those with a student visa have exactly 60 days after they quit the program in which they can transfer to another school (if qualified), or leave the United States. There are no refunds for unused classes.
